DENVER — Colorado Governor Jared Polis recently decided (against the advisement of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) that on Friday, May 1, he will reopen the state of Colorado.
I’m no expert, but I do feel like ‘pandemic’ implies the extremely serious nature of our present situation.
I think that Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is making the far more responsible decision by rejecting the governor’s orders, and taking more time to get the city of Denver back on track.
According to the CDC website, as of May 3, there have been 16,120 cases of COVID-19 and 832 deaths in the state of Colorado.
I think the risks of an additional spike of the virus outweigh the economic benefits of businesses reopening.
This is a really difficult time for all of us, but if we stay within the guidelines of the experts of this field, (WHO and the CDC) it gives us our best opportunity to stay safe.
