Success for the Misfits That are the San Francisco Giants

A band of misfits and people that no teams want are what make up the National League’s best record holder San Francisco Giants. Take for example Tyler Rogers, who throws underhand, and Johnny Cueto, who does the “Shimmy” before he throws each ball. The Shimmy is a move where Cueto sets and shakes his shoulders to throw off the timing of the hitter, which is very unconventional but it is very effective.

The start of the season was a little slow for the Giants. They started the season by losing their first series to the Seattle Mariners. Since then, they have only lost two series and have been on a tear of winning. The series that they have lost have been against the Miami Marlins and the San Diego Padres.

The Padres have a roster made up of big names such as Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Willy Myers, Blake Snell, and Yu Darvish. The Giants swept the Padres in their first series and have 4-4 against them this year, whereas the Giants have a roster of league-average players like Mike Yazstremski, Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Evan Longoria, and Brandon Belt.

As of right now, the Giants are two games ahead of the Padres, who are in second place in the National League(NL) West. This is a very sizable feat, considering that the NL West has two of the best clubs in baseball: the Dodgers and the Padres.

It is safe to say that if the Giants can keep up this pace of winning, they will secure first place in the NL West and possibly a World Series Victory. To all the people that think money is the way to win games, think again. The San Francisco Giants with their band of misfits have proven this wrong.
