Best USA Women Contenders for a Olympic Medal

The Olympics are less than two months away and the United States is expected to get some medals at these games. Competing through two pandemic-affected seasons, several U.S. athletes have emerged as top contenders going into the 2021-22 Olympic season. With world cup-level events now underway in alpine and Nordic skiing. To new rookies and big time veterans here are some athletes to watch to contend for a medal. 

First, Jessie Diggins competed in cross country skiing. Jessie was born out of Minnesota. Team USA’s official website states, “The Minnesotan is back after helping win Team USA’s first medal in the sport in 2018, and she’s continued making history in the years since. Diggins, now 30, is coming off a season in which she became the first American to win the prestigious Tour de Ski multi-stage event, and then went on to become the first American woman to win the overall world cup title.” 

Next, another athlete that everyone needs to watch out for is Mikaela Shiffrin. Mikaela Shiffrin is an alpine skier and she is now 26. She is looking forward to keeping her dominance in Slalom and Giant Slalom and trying to get a medal in Super G and downhill. She won her first gold medal when she was 18 at the Sochi Olympics, and during the 2018 Olympics, she won the Giant Slalom in Pyeongchang. Her 70 World Cup wins trail only two of the sport’s all-time legends: Lindsey Vonn (82) and Ingemar Stenmark (86) . She is thriving in the sport of alpine skiing. 

These two skiers Jessie and Mikaela are expecting medals at the 2022 winter Olympics and Beijing.
