TELLURIDE — On Dec. 22, 2016 Miriam Tabares went in for a routine checkup at the Telluride Medical Center.

The next day she was flown to Children’s Hospital Colorado and on Dec. 24 she started chemotherapy.

Miriam has leukemia and the medical expenses she has incurred over the past three years are astounding.

To help raise money for her family, a Telluride High School friend group decided is implementing a district wide k-12 hat day.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, students and teachers can pay one dollar to participate and wear a crazy hat.  In addition, donations will be accepted in the Telluride High School lobby for the Tabares family.  This is the second hat day fund raiser for the Tabares family.

Miriam has been undergoing treatment for the past three years and still has at least one year to go.

The goal is to raise as much money as possible.
